The Southeastern Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council (SEMNBCT) provides leadership to union members, promotes and supports the development of advanced knowledge by skilled workers, and offers guidance and support to owners and signatory contractors. SEMNBCT advances the building and construction trades by promoting adherence to applicable building codes and safety standards, while working with owners and operators to reduce overall building costs.

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades represents the tapers, glaziers, wall coverers, flooring installers, convention and trade show decorators, glassworkers, sign & display workers, asbestos workers/hazmat technicians, and drywall finishers in the US and Canada.

(Local 49)

The International Union of Operating Engineers operates equipment such as tower cranes, dozers, loaders, rollers, asphalt pavers, motor graders & mechanics. Members work on building construction sites, highways, bridges and pipelines.

The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers include the crafts of bricklayer, stone mason, tile layer, marble mason, terrazzo worker, blocklayer, tile finisher, pointer, cleaner and caulker, and precast mason.

Sprinkler Fitters are affiliated with the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the US and Canada. Sprinkler Fitters are pipe fitter specialists who have been schooled and trained in the installation of fire protection systems.

The International United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers install all types of roofing and waterproofing, air barrier and dampproofing to prevent the intrusion or migration of moisture on buildings.

Electricians
(Local 343)

Electricians install and maintain all of the various types of electrical systems found in residential, commercial and industrial facilities. These systems include the wiring and installing of lighting, receptacles, motors, heating equipment and control systems. Other areas of work include installation of fire alarm systems, wiring of wind towers, streetlights and solar photovoltaic systems.

United Association members work in a variety of settings from housing to power stations. Sheet Metal Workers
(Local 10)

Sheet Metal Workers fabricate and install ducts that are used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. They fabricate and install a wide variety of products made from light or thin galvanized metals such as siding, metal decks, gutters, flashing and dust collecting systems. Carpenters are some of the first workers on a job site, and some of the last to leave.
