WORK INCLUDES

Carpenters utilize a variety of hand and power tools in the field and in shop environments to design, measure, cut, erect, install, modify, repair, or replace structures and fixtures made of wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall in residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. Requires situational awareness, spatial relations, physical fitness, computational reasoning, improvisational problem solving, mechanical intuition, ability to read blueprints, and communication skills.

APPRENTICESHIP & TRAINING

To join an apprenticeship program you must be 18 years of age, achieved a high school diploma or GED and the physical ability to do the work.

Apprenticeship Training includes on-the-job training and related instruction per year while attending classes at one of the regional 1382 training centers:

  • Floor Coverers Training Center (Saint Paul)
  • Jerry Alander Training Center (Hermantown)
  • L.J. Shosten Union Training Center (Saint Paul)
  • Rochester Training Center
  • Twin Cities Training Center (Saint Paul)
