WORK INCLUDES
Plumbers & Pipefitters design, install, service, and replace plumbing systems, heating/cooling systems, process piping, medical gas & steam systems that are used for heating as well as power generation. The work environment for a Local #6 craftsmen could include anything from a residential home to a nuclear power plant. This career path is an excellent option for someone that is good with math, likes to work with their hands in all types of environments, has good mechanical reasoning abilities, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

APPRENTICESHIP & TRAINING
To join an apprenticeship program you must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED and the physical ability to do the work. As one of the oldest organized labor groups in the Rochester area, Local 6 has a rich history of providing premier training programs, including a five year apprenticeship program, extensive journeyman training, helping our signatory contractors grow their market share by identifying new opportunities, providing support and producing the safest, most skilled and highly trained workforce in the industry. Recently, the facility has been updated and expanded to meet growing needs of members.
The 21,400 sq. ft. facility includes classroom and shop areas, facilitating both coursework and hands-on training in system design, welding, backflow prevention wet lab, plumbing module, pipe fabrication and layout, specialized device service and blueprint reading plus numerous other aspects of the plumbing and pipefitting industry.
