WORK INCLUDE
Sprinkler fitting is a specialty within pipefitting. Sprinkler fitters work with a variety of tools to fabricate, assemble, install, test, and maintain sprinkler and fire suppression systems throughout residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Sprinkler fitters may work in conjunction with steamfitters and plumbers. Requires physical fitness, computational reasoning, improvisational problem solving, mechanical intuition, ability to read blueprints, and communication skills.
APPRENTICESHIP & TRAINING
To join an apprenticeship program you must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED and the physical ability to do the work.
The Apprenticeship Program is a five-year program with on the job training and a 19 Course correspondence through a nationally recognized university. Topics of study include metallurgy, piping and duct design, load calculation, hoisting and welding, as well as control systems and industry codes. Once you have entered the Apprenticeship Program and have completed your six-month probationary period you are eligible to become a member of Local 669.
